Senior Python/Django Backend Engineer Contract

We're working on a new venture, still in stealth, in the financial industry. As part of this venture, we're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer, passionate about building high-quality products on a modern cloud-based microservice oriented infrastructure. You will be actively contributing to the development of our Python/Django application.

Based: Remote Hybrid (UK based)

Start: ASAP

Basis: Contract (inside IR35)

Competitive Day Rate

Length: 6-8 weeks

About the role:

As a senior backend engineer, you will be:

• Joining a small product focused engineering team working directly with a small cross
• functional team of designers, product managers and venture builders.
• Leading the development of backend features in a serverless framework architecture for our customer facing web apps.
• Collaborating closely with engineering leadership on alignment and planning
• Maintaining high standards of code quality, ensured by appropriate testing.
• Thriving in a fast-paced environment where ambiguity is the norm.

About you:

• Know the ins, outs, strengths and limitations of Python, Django and DRF
• Design and implementation of low latency, high availability and scalable application
• services in python.
• Have production understanding of various data storage solutions (AWS RDS etc.)
• Able to implement automated unit and E2E tests.
• Write reusable, testable and efficient code.
• Diagnose problematic code and implement corrective solutions.

Nice to haves:

• Experience in financial services
• Experience with zappa
• Building to a high degree of compliance and risk assessment in a highly regulated
• industry
• Experience building to acceptance criteria in project issue tracking platforms such as
• Jira
• You have experience developing and maintaining cloud-based technologies
• (Infrastructure as Code, AWS)
